Learn to calm your mind, relax your body and embark on a journey of self-discovery, through the power of Tai Chi. Join Tai Chi Instructor, Roy Leighton as he introduces you to some fundamentals of this most ancient of martial arts and leads you on a journey to becoming a better you.
As part of our 'Healthy You' sessions, you can access on-demand content for 'Tai Chi for Empowerment'; a series of five sequential lessons that will cover the opening moves for the 24 posture Yang style Tai Chi that you can do at home to improve your health and wellness. These sessions are designed to take you through the five stages of the hero's journey to build personal power and shape character, using different exercises techniques to get you in the perfect mood to seize the day!
Session 1: Open Tai Chi - The Call To Adventure
Aim: The importance of being open in order to respond to, and make the most of, change, challenge and new beginnings.
Description: This session focuses on the ability to find your feet and prepare for a new adventure. You will develop an awareness of the importance of listening to your ‘gut’ and trusting your instinctive intelligence. All the sessions will look at the art and science of change and personal transformation. This week we will look at how the brain can get in the way of your actions, focusing on the four competencies that shape character.
Session 2: Part the wild horse's mane - Acceptance Of The Call
Description: In this session, we look at the importance of being the best version of yourself so you can make the most of your relationships and have the greatest positive impact on your environment. We will, as usual, give you a relaxation exercise linked to one of the postures of the Tai Chi 24 Posture Yang Style.
Session 3: Ward Off, Roll Back, Press, Push - Crossing The Threshold
In this session, we look at the importance of 'being the change'. We will show you how to break negative patterns and get on, and stay on, the path you want to be on to achieve your goals. We will, as usual, give you a relaxation exercise linked to one of the postures of the Tai Chi 24 Posture Yang Style.
